Meet the Family

The people and animals who make Eden's Reptiles the mom & pop reptile room it is.

Our Team

Ernie

Ernie

Owner

As a teen Ernie worked at PJ Pets in the Eglington Square pet shop which was the largest pet shop in Toronto at the time. After realizing just how pet stores operate Ernie chose to switch to The Endangered Animal Sanctuary on Mill Wood Rd, remaining there throughout school. After graduating high school Ernie then worked at York University continued to work there for over 12 years as an Animal Lab Tech while studying Psychology and Biology. During his studies and work at York University he contributed to many Masters and Doctorate Theses, publishing papers in both fields. Now with a heart condition and many other old parts, continuing the fun that brings reptile keepers and hobbyists together through the work he does with the The Mom & Pop reptile room is Earnie's life's passion.

Ruth

Ruth

Owner

She is the mother of all moms. She'll take everything and anyone in no matter who or what they are. Any time of day, any holiday, any creature, Ruth is the caregiver for all of our creatures making sure they all feel like they're loved, cared for, safe, and in their best home. In sickness and health, she hand feeds the weak, nurtures the anxious, and keeps everyone company.

Our Ambassadors

These special animals live with us full-time and help introduce people to the wonderful world of reptiles.

Bob

Bob

Bearded Dragon

Bob Bites. When dragons get upset they tend to bob their heads which is how he got his name. Someone left him on our porch in November of 2025 in a 10 gallon tank and didn't even ring the doorbell so we didn't even know he was there! He has come a long way since then, he's able to be pet in his enclosure now but he was obviously traumatized when he came to us and is very scared. When we work with him we wait until his mouth closes so that we can end on a positive note so he knows nobody is going to hurt him. A place of trust is under the chin so if you get under his chin and give him little pets then usually he will settle. We handle him daily and are so proud of how far he has come.

Sassy

Sassy

Bearded Dragon

Sassy was returned as a baby because the people were afraid of her and only handled her with big leather gloves. We've had Sassy about a year and a half now and will turn 2 this summer (2026). Sassy is now very friendly but when she first came in she was "sassy" (hence her name) sometimes you'd go in and she'd be friendly and some times you'd go in and she'd give you a hissy face. She is not a fearful dragon and thinks every time you open the door she's getting her treats (yummy tasty worms). One day Sassy might make a great mom! She comes out to the schools with us and... tolerates the children.

Pheobe

Pheobe

Leatherback Bearded Dragon

Pheobe loves the children, she loves people, she'll sit with you and watch movies, she's an absolute delight! She's called a leatherback bearded dragon which means she's smoother than our other beardies. She came to us in January of 2026 because her family just didn't want her anymore so she was a great addition because we really needed a friendly Dragon to come to the preschools with us to help us educate the kids.

Quazzy

Quazzy

Bearded Dragon

Quazzy came to us in 2024 because he wasn't wanted. His face is really unique! He had severe MBD and has come a long way since then; his MBD is being managed well but his legs still curl in under him like a puppy rather them out like a regular Bearded Dragon. We guess he's probably about 4 or 5 in 2026 because of the amount of MBD in him when he came to us. Back then he couldn't stand up and run around but now he's up and about chasing crickets and living his best life.

Timmy

Timmy

Bearded Dragon

Timmy came to us in early April 2026 with extreme MBD. We've previously had bearded dragons with such severe MBD in their back legs. We used a custom made beardie wheelchair to help him get around and hope to crack it back out to help with Timmy's front legs while we rehabilitate him.

The Brady Bunch

The Brady Bunch

Milk Frogs

We call them Brady Bunch because there's 9 of them! The Brady bunch has been with us since 2023. Milk frogs are cool because they have blue blood, and when they're on the glass you can see right into them. They're a delight to come and visit here at the shop. Can you find them all? These guys mother lots of our stock and their children have gone off to new homes!

Elvis

Elvis

California King Snake

Elvis is our California king snake and came to us from the Humane Society in 2022. He was in dire straights, close to dead, found in an addicts home in a terrarium will dead iguanas and assorted medication. He was very skinny so we made sure to get him lots of food and handling (to make sure he doesn't bite). He's actually tried consuming Ernie himself at a time and was halfway up Ernie's knuckle before he even noticed! Elvis is probably around 10 years old now, and they live up to about 25 years. Although he was notorious for biting when he first came in: he'd bite the logs, he'd bite his food dish, he'd even eat himself but he's become such a friend through much handling.

Neil

Neil

Corn Snake

Neil is our albino corn snake and was born in 2022. He's been through many different families and has been with us since 2024. Because he's albino his eyes don't turn blue when he's shedding. He's our friendliest snakes and he'll go to anybody (I'd pass him to a newborn baby and feel perfectly safe). We take him with us to all of our school outings where we educate kids on snakes.

Steve

Steve

Corn Snake

Steve is an old man. He's 18 years old (born in 2008). He was with a different family for the first 14 years of his life because his human mom passed away. His human father wasn't as comfortable with handling snakes and brought him in asking that we don't sell him but instead nurture him here for the rest of his old man life. We of course obliged and is such a darling.

Lavern

Lavern

Leopard Gecko

Lavern has been with us for about 4 years (born in 2021, with us since 2022) and is completely blind. She came to us emaciated because her previous owners had no idea she was blind so they'd put crickets in with her and she couldn't hunt them. We started off by tong feeding her because she couldn't find food and once we figured her out we just started putting her calcium bowl in the same place every time and then put her meal worms in that bowl. The first time she made it to that bowl and caught her first worm she was oh so proud of herself! She is a happy girl, loves to be handled.

Leo

Leo

Leopard Geck

Leo was a breeder at his previous home and they brought us to him because they didn't think he could breed anymore. He is 16 years old (born in 2010) and he's been here for 6 years. His first year here we did breed him but since he's old now we've decided to let him retire in peace.

Oliver and Bea

Oliver and Bea

Crested Geckos

Oliver and Bea are our bonded crested gecko pair. We brought them up from Toronto, they were born in 2023 and can be an absolute delight. They love to jump! They have very sticky feet and can walk on walls so if they get away they could be anywhere! They come with us to the schools and are good for older kids. There are so many different forms and morphs of crested geckos so they're delightful little pets.

Eden

Eden

Rough Green Snake

Eden is who we named our business after. He's been with us for 6 years (since 2020) and we purchased him from a breeder on the west coast. He's really interesting because he doesn't eat mice, he eats crickets!

Sand Gecko Colony

Sand Gecko Colony

Sand Geckos

These guys were a gift from one of our breeder friends to try and breed! We have 3 males and 3 females and haven't granted us a clutch yet. Sand Geckos are fun little guys who only get up to about 2 - 3 inches long!

Rex

Rex

Eastern Collared Lizard

Eastern Collared Lizards are a member of the bearded dragon family but the smallest of them. Rex was also a gift from one of our suppliers and is beautiful but doesn't want to breed. That's okay though, we love him all the same! We've had him since 2022 and he was just a baby when he came in. He comes with us to meet all the children at the different schools we visit and is a great little ambassador.

Little Foot

Little Foot

Savannah Monitor Lizard

Little Foot was born in 2023 and we have had him since he was a hatchling. He was a special order from Africa and he was wild caught. We don't usually do wild caught but they're so plentiful in Africa that they're caught mostly for food and leather (they're a resource) so it's a bit of a two edged sword. We really desperately wanted a Monitor Lizard, they need a lot of space! We ordered him and he went on a whole world adventure before we checked him out to make sure he didn't have any parasites and that he was healthy. Little Food is a favourite among the children when we bring him to visit the schools.

Monty

Monty

Savannah Monitor Lizard

Monty is a turnover from a college student who was headed back home to take care of his family out in Asia. It's a bit of a funny story where we desperately wanted and Monitor Lizard so we ordered Little Foot and around that same time Monty came to us by chance so we actually ended up with Monty before we ended up with our special ordered Little Foot but how could we say no? Monty was born in 2022 and came to us in 2023 only a week before Little Foot did. Monty sometimes comes with us to the schools and is great with the kids.

Ringo

Ringo

Graceful Chamelon

Ringo is a jerk. Every time you touch him he goes running away, he's not very social but he's great to watch. Graceful Chamelon's come from Africa and require more heat than Panthers and Veiled who come from the mounty regions of Caledonia. Ringo was brought in as a trial chamelon because so many people want chamelons but they're hard to keep. He eats crickets and likes to bask. He was born in late 2025 so isn't yet a year. Most chamelons aren't social but even for the first while of having him when you opened his door he'd lean away or take off. He's great to observe and is an ambassador to show how to care them.

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea

Veiled Chamelon

Sweet Pea is actually one of our pets. She doesn't come out much but is a lot more social and friendly than Ringo. Sweet Pea will sometimes come out to the schools but more so the younger groups who are calmer. Veiled Chamelons change between greens and browns but aren't so colourful as Panther Chamelons. She was born in late 2025.

Scarlet

Scarlet

Corn Snake

Scarlet was turned over because her owners just didn't want her anymore. We've had her since late 2025 and they say she was born in 2020 but she's pretty thin to be 6. She's got embryos right now so we hope she will lay eggs soon and we'll be able to share her beautiful colours with the others through her babies.

Franklin

Franklin

Red Footed Tortoise

Franklin was a turnover. We've had him since 2024 and he's probably born in 2014. He hangs out around the shop and you can see him waddling around. He like scratches and loves strawberries. The kids love him, he's one of the biggest hits when we go to the schools. He's omnivorous which means he eats both plants and some proteins like worms, chicken hearts, and even dead things in the wild!

Freda & Fred

Freda & Fred

Dumpy Tree Frogs

Freda & Fred were purchased and became part of our breeding family. They're originally from Australia but they're captive bread now around the world. We've had them since we opened in 2020. We don't bring them to the schools with us because they just pee on everyone and everything.
